The keyless chests spawn once all the quests of a reaper are completed. 1 chest and spider for every reaper as far as i know.. i may be wrong.

TO bad they removed those DD chests tough, iwas just starting farmig them with my war (even got a white 5-25 serpent axe)....

Here's my 2 cents:

I'm sure all you guys are more experienced then I am. I've only been playing GW for about 4-5 months, however, I do have an aptitude for learning things (and about things) VERY quickly. I also like to research but checking forums, etc, before going "hunting" for whatever I'm looking for mindlessly. Needless to say having cleared the game with 3 chars already, and having farmed SF about 400+ times, my absolute #1 priority now is getting a CRYSTALLINE SWORD. I know there's better swords, blah blah blah, etc..but i love uniqueness and rarity more then anything, and correct me if i'm wrong, but a Crystalline Sword is one of the most, if not, THE most rarest "items" in this game. I have never seen one drop myself, but have seen LOTS of it being sold around. So naturally, I want to know where you get them as much as the next guy!.
With that being said, here's what I've come up with as a collection of what
you guys have posted and what I've learned.

PLEASE NOTE:THIS IS NOT A FACT, but just my observation, so feel free to correct me):

The "most likely" possibility of getting crystalline swords are/were in:

1. UW - As mentioned above, "most likely" to drop in the Unlocked Chests AFTER completing the Reaper quests. The fastest way I know of doing this is after doing the smite run, go back to where you started and follow through the area of where the Terror Webs are, kill them and continue onward on the path and you will eventually come to an open area with LOTS of "Friendly" ghost and at the end there will be a Reaper to present you with a quest (from what I recall). After completing the quest, you should see the black spider (which every ranger wants to have for a pet) and a chest. I've only done this quest ONCE, so feel free to correct me if this is wrong. ALSO, there is a "RARE" possibility of the crystalline sword from the Locked Phantom Key chests through UW.

2. FoW - the 2 Unlocked Chests location that I know of personally are the 1st quest you complete and open the gate in the big middle circular location where ONE item drops for ONE person randomly. I've always gotten a purple item, nothing big. The 2nd one is after you complete the Forgemaster quest, you should see another similar chest. As far as Locked Obsidian chests are concerned, i can't say for sure, but from what people are saying, it looks like there is a "RARE" possibility of it dropping from those as well.

3. Dreadnaughts Drift (DD) Lost Strongbox/frozen chest, key NOT required (This no longer an option)

4. Hall of Heroes (aka Tombs last level) last chest behind the 3 darkness which is a LOCKED chest using phantom keys to open it. Keep in mind once you get to this point and if you've kill ALL enemies in that last area, you only have 30 secs. to open the chest, so my suggestion is, even if it's giving purple drops, GO for it. Also, just so everyone is clear, in the last area with the 3 darkness bosses, the only "possibility" of crystalline swords from a locked chest is if that chest is located right BEHIND the darkness or on that SAME platform. The reason I say this is because there are random chest spawns on the left or right sides and from what others are saying, if they aren't dropping Gold items and are located on the left or right, then you're not likely to get crystalline swords. (Someone confirm this plz...)
Personally, I'd say in the spirit of keeping things simple, go for the chests regardless if they are purple/gold/whatever as long as you are in HOH. That's just my opinion.

Now, ONE question I have, is I've only been to DD strongbox/frozen chest, and as stated by ANET in the last "big" update, they removed the chests from there. I want to know if anyone has actually been there since the update and can confirm that there are NO chests (or maybe there are other chests) ?

For those of you who are complaining about revealing "secrets" and this being the reason that the areas get over-farmed and nerfed, yes, you do have a point to a degree, however, at the end of a day, this is a game pure and simple. Personally, it gives me pleasure to help others who are "noobs" or that need help, etc, but that's just me.

Anyway, I don't want to turn this thread into a debate about who's right or wrong, but that's just my 2 cents, so you can take it for what it's worth (hopefully more than 2 cents

Of course not they got removed with last update as GW official website clearly states. That's why Underboss says it's not an option anymore.

I got a crystalline sword from one of the chests you see durring the Kilroy quest...was max dmg but no dmg mod...sold it for 50k =D
